Comparison
A Buffer alternative that counts brands
Buffer is good at what it does: queue posts and push them out at the right time. The catch only shows up later — namely once you look after more than one brand. This page says exactly where the maths tips over, and where it does not.
Buffer counts channels. Kosmopost counts brands.
With Buffer every connected account costs 6 $ a month. With Kosmopost one brand costs €22.60 incl. VAT — with all of its channels, today and when a network is added.
All figures on Buffer checked on 23 August 2026 at buffer.com/pricing. If you find a discrepancy, write to hello@kosmopost.ai — I will correct it.
The short answer
If you only have ten seconds
Buffer costs 6 $ per channel per month (5 $ on annual billing). A channel there is a single account: one Instagram profile, one Facebook page, one TikTok account. So if one brand lives on four networks, you pay four times.
Kosmopost costs €22.60 a month per project (incl. VAT, €18.99 net) — and a project brings all of its channels with it. On top of that comes something Buffer does not offer: a project brain holding the rules of your brand, so that it still sounds like itself months later.
When switching pays off: with one brand on one or two channels Buffer is cheaper — that is simply how it is. From three or four channels per brand, and certainly with several brands, the maths turns. And if it matters to you that your data sits in Germany, it turns earlier.
At a glance
Four numbers
that carry the difference
The first line of any price table is the boring one. The second line decides it: what is being counted. That is what determines whether your bill grows with every network or stays put.

Do the maths
Three cases,
and Buffer does not win two of them
“When is which one worth it” has no general answer — it depends on how many channels per brand you run. Three cases, all calculated at the base price.
The first case goes to Buffer. It says so here because it is true.
| Your case | Kosmopost | Buffer (Essentials) |
|---|---|---|
| One brand on Instagram and Facebook 2 channels | €22.60 incl. VAT €18.99 net | 12 $ — cheaper |
| One brand on four networks 4 channels | €22.60 incl. VAT — cheaper €18.99 net | 24 $ |
| Three brands on three networks each 9 channels | €46.40 incl. VAT — cheaper €38.99 net | 54 $ |
Kosmopost prices incl. 19 % German VAT, net amount shown. “Cheaper” compares net with net, because Buffer lists its prices without VAT (as of 18 September 2026, buffer.com/pricing). Buffer prices in US dollars on monthly billing. No exchange rate appears here on purpose — it moves daily, and a converted figure would be wrong tomorrow.
What the price table does not show
Three reasons
that have nothing to do with price
Price is not why people switch anyway. These are the three reasons I actually hear in conversations.
- 01 It still gets left undone A scheduler distributes what you put into it. If nothing is in there, nothing happens — and that is exactly the normal state after a few weeks. Clients and invoices push; Instagram does not. Kosmopost is built for that moment: fill the stock in one go, then one post appears daily, and when the stock runs low it tells you before it goes quiet.
- 02 Several brands bleed into each other Look after three projects and you have three tones of voice, three audiences and three lists of things you must not claim. None of that appears in a channel list. It appears in the project brain — seven questions in plain sentences.
- 03 A translated interface is not the same thing Someone I know pays for one of the big English tools and has stopped using its AI feature altogether, because it does not understand him. Add the part nobody cares about until it matters: server and database sit in Frankfurt am Main.
The core of it
Your voice stays yours.
Only the legwork goes.
Kosmopost invents nothing. It does not write posts, it does not think up topics, and it does not pretend to know how your brand sounds. You know that — and in the project brain it is written down.
What Kosmopost takes over is the part that costs you evenings: remembering, logging in, uploading, hitting the right time, not doing too much at once, renewing an expired access token, not blindly carrying on after an error. Admin, in other words.
The effort moves from “every day” to “once a month”. That is the whole trick — and it is not a technical one.
From the inside
Not a mock-up.
The machine that runs today.
Three shots from the app my own brands have been publishing through daily since late July. No drawing, no preview. The interface you see is German.

The decision
Which of the two
fits you?
A comparison page where the author's own product wins every line is not a comparison page. So, both directions:
Take Kosmopost if …
- … you look after several brands and each should keep its own voice.
- … one of your brands has three or more channels.
- … it has already gone quiet on you twice and this time you want to keep going.
- … you want a German invoice and your data held in Germany.
- … you want to be sure your Meta account does not get burned by posting too often.
Stay with Buffer if …
- … you have one brand with one or two channels — then Buffer is simply cheaper.
- … analytics matter to you: what worked and what did not.
- … you need TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube or Pinterest today.
- … the free tier is enough for you: three channels, ten scheduled posts per channel.
No sugar-coating
What Kosmopost
cannot do today
- It is young. Open since 15 September 2026. Before that, Kosmopost ran only for my own brands since late July — more than 60 posts, but no outside customers yet.
- Two channels, not eight. Instagram and Facebook. TikTok and LinkedIn are planned.
- No analytics. Buffer can do that, Kosmopost cannot.
- No permanently free tier. There are 30 days to try, without a card and without a silent renewal — but after that it costs money.
- No text generator. The writing is done by you, or by the AI tool you already use.
Frequently asked
What people want to know first
If your question is missing, send it to hello@kosmopost.ai — it will end up here.
What counts as a “channel” at Buffer?
A single connected account: one Instagram profile, one Facebook page, one LinkedIn presence, one TikTok account. So a brand living on four networks has four channels and is paid for four times. With Kosmopost the unit is the project, and every channel of that project is included.
Is Kosmopost cheaper than Buffer?
Not always, and I do not claim it is. With one brand on two channels Buffer is cheaper. From three or four channels per brand, and with several brands, the maths turns in favour of Kosmopost. The three worked examples above show both directions.
Is there a free tier at Kosmopost?
No permanent one. There are 30 days to try everything — no card, no bank details, I do not even ask for them. After 30 days it stops and does not renew itself. Buffer has a permanently free tier with three channels and ten scheduled posts per channel.
Does Kosmopost bill in euros?
Yes, in euros, with a German invoice and VAT shown separately. Buffer bills in US dollars. That is not an accusation, but for you it means a fluctuating amount on the card statement and, depending on the card, an extra foreign-currency fee.
Can Kosmopost publish to LinkedIn and TikTok?
Not today. Instagram and Facebook are running; TikTok and LinkedIn are planned. If you need those channels now, Buffer is the right choice for you — that is not politeness, it is the state of things.
What happens to my data?
Server and database sit in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Your posts, images and credentials stay in the EU, are never passed on, and you can delete your account yourself at any time. The details are in the privacy notice.
